WHAT IS EMPOWERING FITNESS?

Empowering Fitness offers kickboxing and bootcamp style classes for all fitness levels.  Our goal is to help each person reach his or her fullest potential.  With a holistic approach, we strive to preach health, not size.  Although many of our clients do see weight loss results, they will tell you that the intangible results, such as increased confidence and energy are what keep them coming back.

Our classes are challenging, yet they can be tailored to suit any person at any level.  We will guide and help you with any modifications that may be needed.  We strive to make your workout work for you.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Expect a great experience!  We strive to make each workout challenging, effective, yet suitable for each fitness level.  
  • Expect the instructor to show you each exercise and it’s proper form.
  • Expect to be encouraged.
  • Expect to push yourself.
  • Expect improvement in your fitness.
  • Expect a short warm up.  
  • Expect to punch a bag!  Unless it is a bootcamp day, we will be having fun punching a bag.  You will be instructed on how to properly punch and kick the bag to prevent any injuries.

WHAT TO BRING

Kickboxing is a great workout that requires little equipment.  Here is a list of what to bring.

– Waterbottle

– Tennis Shoes

You will need to provide your own wraps and gloves.  Here are some links, and just some examples of what we recommend, to give you an idea of what you are searching for.  These products can be found at any sporting goods store such as Scheels, or Dicks.

Empowering Fitness

“My name is Crystal Huisman from Parkersburg, Iowa and I would like to tell you how joining the Empowering Fitness family changed not only my outlook on fitness as a whole, but made me feel more connected to my community.

My previous fitness goals were to commit without fully committing. I would try for a while and then get bored and would never allow myself to spend the money to attach to a program where I knew I wouldn’t follow through.  My excuses were: time, expense, distance and energy.

Angie started advertising the kickboxing class in Parkersburg during a time in my life where I needed something to “commit, but not fully commit” to and after 5 years of living in Parkersburg and knowing no one besides my husband’s small group of friends, I was ready to branch out. Little did I know that after week one, despite the aching in every inch of my body—I was unintentionally and fully addicted to the rush of the workout and camaraderie of these individuals showing up with me every day.” 

I went into this class apprehensive and expecting people to scoff at my inexperience and utter weakness, but that never happened. I expected to be exhausted, not able to find the energy to come back every day, but that never happened. Most surprisingly, I expected to get bored with the class, bored with the people and find one of my various excuses to quit…but THAT never happened.

After finishing multiple sessions, I felt stronger, energized, and like I was part of a team…a team that needed my commitment to continue to strive. I was happier, easier to get along with, and could handle daily stress with much more ease than I was able to before.  But, what I loved the most about this entire experience, as if the physical rush wasn’t enough, was the family that was created when Empowering Fitness was born. I finally feel as though I have a place and a voice in my community. I have built and continue to build relationships with my peers that are life long and for that, I will always be grateful.
